Underground, ωμή βραδιά dance
How Dogs Play explores the complex presence of aggression within intimacy — a crude slip between the human and the monstrous, child’s play and menacing acts. The performance features three dancers colliding, spinning, falling, and intertwining in an athletic maze. Live-processed sounds by Tommy Martinez amplify and exaggerate the tussles of everyday life. Amelia Heintzelman is a Brooklyn-based dancer, choreographer, and teacher whose work has been supported by residencies and grants through Center for Performance Research, Issue Project Room, and Movement Research. She has collaborated with artists including Deborah Hay and Melinda Ring.
