JAK Trio

The JAK Trio brings together three long-time collaborators and friends: Alexandros Arkadopoulos (clarinet), Giannis Kyrimkyridis (piano), and Kostas Meretakis (percussion). This project blends the depth of traditional music with the harmonic language of European jazz. Clarinetist Alexandros Arkadopoulos is considered one of Greece's most influential traditional soloists. Pianist Giannis Kyrimkyridis (Yann Keerim) has developed a personal sound reflecting his classical training and love for jazz and neoclassical improvisation. Percussionist Kostas Meretakis possesses a deep rhythmic language that unites his Thracian roots with Balkan and Eastern Mediterranean traditions. The trio improvises and creates original suites based on iconic traditional pieces, such as the Epirote Berati, bringing Macedonian bagpipes alongside Erik Satie and Asia Minor tunes alongside Domenico Scarlatti. Together, they aim to create a fresh sound and a new perspective starting from traditional music roots.
