Fences

Fences is the moniker of singer-songwriter Christopher Mansfield, an indie-folk project defined by vivid storytelling and emotional lyricism. Following the success of full-length albums Fences and Lesser Oceans, Mansfield continues to craft devastatingly honest songs with unmistakable pop sensibilities. Alongside his solo work, Mansfield has collaborated with artists such as Jeremiah Green (Modest Mouse), Macklemore , Ryan Lewis , Wesley Schultz ( The Lumineers ), Billy Strings , Felix Pastorius , and more. While amassing hundreds of millions of streams, he has built a devoted audience through down-to-earth songwriting and a steady output of creative work. In late 2025, Mansfield appeared on AMC’s Ride with Norman Reedus while promoting a new album. Most recently, he has worked closely with longtime collaborator and producer Jonah Marc Levine on Prairie Tremens and a forthcoming 2026 release. Mansfield’s forthcoming record features many of his favorite artists, including Wesley Schultz, Hiss Golden Messenger, Damien Jurado, Marilyn Manson, City and Colour, Sam Opoku, Chris Bauer, Jaymee Carpenter, and Norman Reedus.
