Tristan Arp is a producer, DJ and sound artist born in suburban Detroit. He is the cofounder of the label Human Pitch in collaboration with Simisea, formed while living New York before moving to Mexico City in 2019. His records and DJ sets playfully bend the frameworks of club and ambient music with polyrhythmic micro-percussion and elastic sound design. After a series of outsider club EPs, Tristan Arp released his debut album Sculpturegardening in 2021 on UK label Wisdom Teeth. Performing cello alongside modular synthesis, he embraced a generative approach to composition inspired by gardening and textures inspired by sculpture. An accompanying multi-channel sound installation was exhibited at a sculpture garden in Mexico City surrounding the release. His collaborations with New York’s Kellen303 for Unknown-Untitled and Mexico City’s Nico for Grid were returns to club-form before landing with 3024 to release his End of a Line or Part of a Circle? EP in 2023. Tristan Arp is also a member of Asa Tone, a collaboration with Indonesian-American artist Melati ESP and Australian producer Kaazi. The group’s debut LP Temporary Music was recorded in Indonesia and released on Leaving Records in 2020, followed by New Forms in 2021. He can be heard biweekly on The Lot Radio with his partner in Human Pitch, Simisea, and guests from around the world.
