Based in Asheville, NC (by way of southeast Michigan and Brooklyn, NY) Okonski is led by pianist Steve Okonski. Joined in the studio by Aaron Frazer on drums and Michael “Ish” Montgomery on bass, the trio creates impressionistic, cinematic instrumental music shaped by a broad range of influences. Signed to Colemine Records, their debut album "Magnolia" (2023) earned four stars from DownBeat, while the 2025 follow-up "Entrance Music" has been met with similar critical and public acclaim.
