Underground, ωμός καλλιτέχνης psychobilly
The Memphis Morticians are a NYC-based band for all the weirdos who love loud, trashy, horror rock and roll. Don’t let the upright bass deceive you as this band is anything but a traditional rockabilly band. The Morticians blend their influences in early rock and roll, garage, psychedelic, and punk rock to brew their own unique swill. The Morticians have toured extensively in the United States with occasional trips to Canada to visit their pals the Gutter Demons in Montreal. They have shared the stage with acts such as: Mad Sin, the Monsters, Reverend Beat-Man, The Kings Of Nuthin', Tim Polecat, Robert Gordon, The Vibrators, Nigel Lewis, and Deja Voodoo. What does the press have to say? Well according to Rue Morgue magazine the Memphis Morticians are, “Tailor-made for dirty bars and dirty folks, it just doesn’t get any sleazier, bloodier or more fun than this” or as SLUG magazine puts it, “It’s funny to me that garage rock came out of the rockabilly of the early 60s and this band from NYC has taken the best parts of both those genres and slammed them together with some punk-rock vigor.”
Memphis Morticians play a high-energy blend of psychobilly, horror punk, rockabilly, and garage rock, characterized by their horror themes and the prominent use of an upright bass.
The current members of Memphis Morticians are Trash Only (vocals), Von Erickson (bass), Chris Disanto (guitar), Zakk the Ripper (guitar), and D.W. Friend (drums).
