Unmistakably English in the same way as Christine McVie, Stevie Winwood, or Nick Drake, Joanna Eden is a singer songwriter who grew up in the heart of England listening to UK artists playing American blues, jazz and pop. Lincolnshire born Joanna Eden wrote and performed her first song at just age 7. The daughter of a musician and a drama teacher, she could read music before she could write, studied piano from age 4 and left university 17 years later with her first tour and an all consuming love of Ella Fitzgerald. At 21 she added Joni Mitchell to her hero list and dedicated herself to singing her own truth. A seasoned and sought-after live performer, Joanna has supported Van Morrison, Jamie Cullum, The Buena Vista Social Club and Tom Jones. Joanna also holds a passion for teaching and amongst her students she includes international star Sam Smith. Eden introduced him to songwriting and is rightly very proud that he subsequently became the highest selling debut artist in US history! The Grammy and Oscar winning star has cited Joanna simply as “the reason I sing”.
Joanna Eden plays a blend of jazz, soul, and pop, often incorporating Latin jazz and bossa nova influences into her original songs and covers.
