BEARCAT is a London-born, New York-based DJ, producer, and artist of Jamaican and Irish descent. BEARCAT’S DJ sets activate her masterful knowledge of diasporic genres to evoke a dance floor experience of healing and release; both for herself and the audience. A self proclaimed Dance Floor Therapist. This incantation of uncompromising, pulsating rhythm and bass has brought her to perform at prestigious nightclubs and events around the world; as well as creating worlds with sound at museums such as The Museum of Modern Art, The Guggenheim, The Whitney, and The Brooklyn Museum. Her most recent highlight was working with Madonna. BEARCAT’s sets are best described as transcendental, captivating, and eclectic at their core, seemingly bringing together everything from jungle, drum’n’bass, techno, and house; to dembow, dancehall, hiphop,, punk, and deconstructed edits. As an open format DJ, BEARCAT’s main priority when performing is studying the crowd. This range of musical interests allows her to mix a diverse range of genres and styles, which is reflected further in her mixes over the years for Boiler Room, RinseFM, NTS and The Fader. As well as producing fashion soundtracks and scoring, she's been a part of vinyl releases from legendary labels EMPIRE, Invadar and Epitaph, and Nervous Records.. BEARCAT’s next release as a producer is an album that spans experimental sounds, blending unlikely genres but stressing visual storytelling.
