Elk Darling

Elk Darling makes indie folk-pop that feels like a roadside sermon under neon light—tender, weathered, and a little unholy. The project lives between plainspoken Americana and dreamlike indie production, where sharp storytelling meets atmosphere and sweetness carries a little smoke. Traces of John Prine’s wit, Bon Iver’s texture, Phoebe Bridgers’ candor, and Noah Kahan’s ache; he bends those instincts into something stranger, haunted, and fully alive. The project is the alter ego of songwriter Jordan Miller, whose path has stretched from production to major-label top-line sessions. He has written for Yung Gravy, lovelytheband, and The Unlikely Candidates, but this feels less like a pivot than a return—gathering those scattered versions of Miller into something more personal and mythic. Raised as the son of a nomadic preacher in a large musical family, he grew up among sermons, harmonies, long drives, and improvised belief systems; that inheritance still shapes songs that drift between confession and fable, memory and performance. Elk Darling writes about love, loss, desire, and survival with humor in the darkness and elegance in the wear. His debut single, Think About It, and follow-up, Killed for Desire introduced a smooth, rootsy, emotionally thorned world, with the forthcoming Satanic Panic EP produced by Ray Brady. Live, he has opened for Twin Shadow and GASHI, early glimpses of a larger universe built from American drift, inherited longing, and wry spirituality.
