VASILIKÍ was born and raised in Athens, Greece and moved to New York at age nineteen to pursue a music career. During her time in New York she developed a distinctive sound and aesthetic that are characterized by an effortless blend of melancholia and boldness; the antithesis between a retro- inspired nostalgic feel and an unapologetic drive that shines amidst the overall energetic and dynamic predisposition. By having a mysterious and soft whilst deep and heavy tone in her voice, she gives her dance pop tunes a unique, dreamy vibe. Combined with her dance background, acting studies and her having lived and grown artistically in three different cities (Athens, New York and La), she puts all the emotions that emerge from having experienced all those contradicting lifestyles in such a young age into the music, while embodying the essence of a natural born performer. Her first single (alternative dream pop version of 80’s hit “Cheri Cheri Lady” by Modern Talking) created radio buzz in Greece. Her second single “HarleyQueen” gathered support from outlets such as Le Future Wave, Obscure Sound, She Makes Music, Extravafrench and so many others. One could say that her characteristic inclination to create visually striking music videos to accompany the music, the love for performing and multicultural back round give off a rare versatility in her artistry, making her an emerging singer and songwriter that people should keep an eye out for.
