Fans of pagan and Viking music, get ready for the wild neo-folk of EIHWAR! These “Enfants Terribles” aren’t here for solemn atmospheres — their fierce and festive fantasy is made for raging Viking dancefloors. Formed in France in 2023 by Asrunn and Mark, the duo call their sound “Viking War Music”: a raw yet celebratory blend of warrior chants, horns, ritual percussion, and machine-driven pulse. Backed by Season of Mist — also home to Heilung and Danheim — Eihwar first drew attention with their YouTube releases, gathering millions of views and connecting with a growing community of modern pagans, metal fans, and darkfolk listeners. Their path has already led them to stages at Hellfest in France, Wacken Open Air in Germany, Resurrection Fest in Spain, and Midgardsblot at the Viking Center in Norway. In June 2025, they were invited by Mongolian folk-metal band The Hu to open select shows. Their new single, “Nauðiz”, inspired by the Futhark rune of the same name, is an anthem of courage. This new song also heralds the band’s upcoming album, “Hugrheim.”
