Koosje

Koosje is a singer-songwriter from the Netherlands. She emphasizes neo-soul, folk influences, r&b riffs as well as lush jazz harmonies and vocal freedom. Koosje was born in a theatrical family: her dad is a director and her mom a drama teacher. She was only 11 years old when she started off with acting lessons and she participated in plays, operas and musicals when she was barely 14. She performed with artists like Colin Benders, Steve Reich & Gwilym Simcock. Koosje studied acting for a brief year, went to the Conservatory of Amsterdam to study Jazzvocals and finally ended up at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. She graduated in 2016 receiving a 10 (with distinction) for her final singing exam and she developed as an arranger, composer and conductor. She went viral through Instagram feed @theyhavetherange, she was the supporting act of Poppy Ajudha, Robin Thicke & Durand Bernarr reposted her and Teddy Swims, Gregory Porter, Lalah Hathaway, James Taylor & David Crosby want(ed) to sing with her! She appeared frequently at Sublime Radio & NPO. Koosje her debut album It's Time is out since 2023 with contributions by Ruben Hein, Artvark Saxophone Quartet, João Erbetta & Woodcraft. She played her release show in TivoliVredenburg. On 9 may 2025 she released her new album One More, had her release show in Bitterzoet, recorded a new song with the Metropole Orkest and is currently touring.
