They first connected with fans in 2020 after posting a snippet of Butch 4 Butch , a song that quickly resonated online. Before it could be finished, Rio was in a skateboarding accident that left them with a brain and hip injury, delaying their ability to work. In response, their fanbase crowdfunded the gear needed to finish the song—an act of love and loyalty that Rio says made their career possible. That same connection carried over to Nothing's New, a track recorded off their breakout EP Good God!, recorded in a beaten down garage that went viral, earned RIAA platinum certifications, and landed them on the Billboard charts. Romeo's music was born out of a conservative Christian upbringing and the search for a sense of self through storytelling. Rio’s songs are a lifeline—for themselves, and for others.
