Polis Ensemble

Polis Ensemble was founded in December 2011 in Athens. The Greek word «πόλις» attempts to portray the cities of the Eastern Mediterranean, the musical tradition of which never ceased to inspire the members of the group. The sextet has collaborated both on recordings and on stage with prominent composers (Nikos Xydakis, Nikos Platyrachos, Christos Tsiamoulis) soloists (Sokratis Sinopoulos, Harris Lambrakis, Vasilis Kostas) singers (Tasis Christogiannopoulos, Vassilis Lekkas, Katerina Papadopoulou, Thodoris Mermigas), actors, the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra and various choral ensembles, has taken part in many Greek festivals and has travelled to Brussels, following an invitation from the Belgian Metropolis and the European Parliament. Moreover, in 2021, joined in a series of cultural activities, on the occasion of the celebration of the 200 years since the War of Greek Independence of 1821, under the artistic supervision of world-famous composer and conductor, Stavros Xarhakos.
