The Cypriot pianist and keyboardist Christos Yerolatsitis is a forward-thinking musician whose eclectic tastes have led him to explore the forever-changing musical landscape where different music genres blend into one another. Christos was trained in the post-bop tradition for which he has a deep appreciation, and which remains part of his musical persona. His proficiency and personal style in the genre haven’t gone unnoticed by both his peers and listeners alike, and have led him to work and record with numerous musicians and projects around the world. As a soloist and composer, he explores the depths of human consciousness and experiences of day-to-day life. Sometimes it translates into soft, poignant soundscapes, other times into dissonant melodies, intricate rhythms, and punchy basslines. Christos’ latest project SONICA and its debut album “Introducing Sonica” — released in June 2022 — marks his debut as a solo artist. Balancing between modern jazz and live electronic music, this stormy, synth-infused project explores the fringes of improvised music.
