JISKA's music is the gateway to a brightly coloured, tipsy, untidy, uncluttered world. Oldschool soul music meet youthful indie pop attitude. JISKA has a maximum international flavour - and not just because of the English-language lyrics - and is reminiscent of the releases of the young Lilly Allen in its lightness and vigilance. The scratchy, warm voice always seems only centimetres away from the listener's ear, always in the foreground without ever imposing itself. The feeling of unreal closeness is created not least by JISKA's way of writing, her focus on the supposedly small, banal things. JISKA packs big themes - such as the eternal paper chase for self-acceptance or dealing with failed love - into contemplative, authentic descriptions of situations. JISKA, whose real name is Jana Franziska Binder, was born in 1999 in the Stuttgart area and has been surrounded by music from her very first breath. Her grandfather runs a music school, her mother is a singer and songwriter, and blues and soul records are constantly on rotation in the living room at home.
