Sjava (Jabulani Makhubo-Hadebe) is a multi-award-winning artist from KwaZulu-Natal whose raw storytelling and soulful sound have reshaped the Afro Soul and Hip Hop landscape. Since his 2016 debut Isina Muva which went straight to #1 on iTunes and won multiple awards. Sjava has built a legacy rooted in authenticity and cultural pride. He has released acclaimed projects including Umqhele (Album of the Year, SAMAs), Umsebenzi, and Isibuko (certified Gold within a month, 5 SAMA nominations). Sjava has also made his mark globally, featuring on the Grammy-nominated Black Panther soundtrack and performing to sold-out crowds across South Africa. Beyond music, he co-founded the 1020 Cartel label, collaborated with Big Zulu as Inkabi Zezwe (covering GQ Magazine), and continues to merge fashion, storytelling, and sound through groundbreaking partnerships. In 2025, he dropped Inkanyezi Live EP and Inkanyezi Live DVD, further cementing his place as a custodian of African music. Recognized with Metro FM, SAMA, BET, and AFRIMA awards and now a voting member of The Recording Academy - Sjava remains a powerful voice for the unheard, honoring the past while boldly shaping the future of African sound.
