Holly Overton

Holly Overton is a music artist and painter in Brooklyn, NY. She performs with her band, incorporating set and lighting design, costume, choreography and props. Her influences are Diana Ross, Kate Bush and Lucinda Williams. She has a MFA in painting from New York Studio School and loves to sing while making large abstract paintings. Holly plays electric guitar, synthesizer and drum machine. She lets her storm pass through the canvas, and asks that her paintings be hung in the bedroom. Holly was a staple in the Brooklyn DIY 2000teens at venues like Death by Audio and Silent Barn, with her former western psych rock band Juniper Rising. Formed with Diana Potakh in 2013, they released two EP's and an LP on Burger Records (CA) and Happenin' Records (AL). Members included Kevin Faulkner (The Men) and Kate Rogers (Bad Bloom). Then under the name MPHO, Holly released two disco rock EP's with Mark Perro (The Men). She also co-founded psych punk rock band American Sun with Jessica Poplawski in 2013 and they released two EP's. Her first band, acoustic folk Feather and Folly with undergraduate art school classmate Júlía Hermansdóttir (OYAMA), sang harmonies like sirens in the LES from 2008-13. They released two albums on cassette and performed Iceland Airwaves.
