Fischer-Z
A nostalgic new wave artist.
2026 is a huge milestone for us - 50 years since the band was formed by John and Steve at Brunel University in 1976, so we will be celebrating with a world-wide tour and special releases of both new and archive music throughout the year. John Watts has released 23 albums, sold over two million records, and performed more than 4,000 concerts across Europe, North America, and beyond. Collaborators have included Peter Gabriel, Steve Cropper, and members of Dexy’s Midnight Runners’ brass section. Fischer-Z have shared stages with James Brown in East Berlin, toured with The Police and Dire Straits, and appeared alongside Bob Marley on his final European festival tour. 2025 saw the release of the PUNKT! art and music project. John created 10 unique art pieces, a 10 track album and art film. He showcased his new art and music in acclaimed galleries appearances across Germany which received excellent reviews in the national press. John Watts remains one of Britain’s most singular creative voices. “I’m up for it,” he says. “This is just the next chapter.”
