Animotion
A nostalgic, polished synthpop artist.
Animotion is an American synth-pop band from Los Angeles, California, best known for the songs "Obsession", "Let Him Go", "I Engineer", and "Room to Move". Formed in 1983, the band emerged during the height of the new wave and synth-pop movement, combining electronic instrumentation with rock influences. Their self-titled debut album, Animotion (1984), featured Obsession, a major international hit that reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band followed up with albums Strange Behavior (1986) and Animotion (1989). After disbanding in the early 1990s, Animotion reunited in 2001 with its original members and has continued to perform live. In 2016, they released Raise Your Expectations, their first studio album in nearly 30 years.
