A homegrown, underground avant garde artist.
Zu Returns with New Album "Ferrum Sidereum" Formed in Ostia, near Rome, Italy, in 1997, Zu has released over 15 albums and gained worldwide cult status. Their unique sound blends metal, noise, prog, electronic, ambient, industrial, and contemporary music into an unmistakable style. Zu has collaborated with such artists as Mike Patton (onCarboniferous), theater director Romeo Castellucci, and released albums on Ipecac Recordings and House of Mythology, including the experimental trilogy Jhator (2017), Zu93 – Mirror Emperor (2018), and Terminalia Amazonia (2019). After a hiatus, they returned in 2014 with EP Goodnight Civilization (featuring Gabe Serbian) and albums The Left Hand Path and Cortar Todo. In 2024, they reissued early works and formed RuinsZu with Japanese noise rock band Ruins, embarking on a European tour. Zu’s collaborators include Joe Lally of Fugazi, King Buzzo of The Melvins, David Tibet ( Curren 93) , FM Einheit ( Einsturzende Neubauten), Damo Suzuki, Mats Gustafsson, and members of The Ex and The Locust. Their new album, Ferrum Sidereum, produced by Marc Urselli, releases January 9, 2026, on House of Mythology with a European tour to follow.
