Measure Divide is the alias of Fahad Ahmad, a Karachi-born, Toronto-based DJ, producer, and event curator. After nearly a decade touring internationally in a duo, he launched Measure Divide in 2012 to pursue a more personal and uncompromising vision of techno. That same year, he founded FORMAT, a Toronto-based event series that has become a cornerstone of Canada’s underground scene. Known for detailed, hardware-driven productions and carefully layered DJ sets, Measure Divide has performed at Berghain, K41, Tresor, Boiler Room, Stereo, and Under Club, sharing the stage with icons like Jeff Mills, Luke Slater, and Blawan. His recent EP, Everything Is Porridge, released on Mutual Rytm X, showcases his signature blend of mischievous energy, hypnotic textures, and finely sculpted industrial rhythms—earning praise for its bold sound design and relentless force. Past releases such as Green Parallel and Evidence of a Rhythmic Pattern on Clergy reflect the same deep commitment to tension, texture, and experimentation. With FORMAT now over a decade strong, Fahad continues to shape the techno landscape—bringing global voices to Toronto, and Toronto’s voice to the world. Grounded and uncompromising, Measure Divide remains a vital force in the global underground.
