KayaKata
A homegrown electronic artist.
KayaKata is a Georgian hip hop trio consisting Maxime Machaidze (aka Luna), Zurab Jishkariani (aka Dilla) and Nikoloz Sabanadze. Their eclectic sound draws on myriad sources, as well as themes of physical, social and psychological liberation, largely inspired by the trauma of growing up in civil war and economic turmoil. After being involved and writing a protest song for the civilian demonstrations against police brutality in Tbilisi, KayaKata released album Sadaa, the first part of a larger whole, known as Car Book. The broader project expands their ‘ghetto sci-fi’ universe from music into text, animations, short films, comics, and community-oriented projects.
