His current focus is the Timo Lassy Trio – a stripped-down yet fiercely expressive unit with bassist Ville Herrala and drummer Jaska Lukkarinen. The trio’s dynamic interplay and deep musical bond are at the core of both their 2021 studio debut Trio and the follow-up live recording Live in Helsinki, released via We Jazz Records in 2025. Whether on stage or in the studio, the trio blends hard-grooving jazz, raw improvisation, and emotional depth, offering a sound that’s both rooted in tradition and boldly forward-looking.
