Michalis Sourvinos
Michalis Sourvinos is a distinguished Greek classical guitarist, mandolinist, and composer, celebrated for his technical mastery and expressive performances. Born in Athens, he embarked on his musical journey under the guidance of M. Vaindirlis, subsequently pursuing studies in classical guitar, advanced music theory, saxophone, piano, and electronic music at the Southeastern College. He earned his guitar diploma from the Conservatory of Northern Greece, studying under Professor Costas Cotsiolis, and furthered his theoretical studies at the Athenaeum Conservatory with Professor Christos Xanthoudakis. Sourvinos has graced numerous festivals as both a soloist and educator, including those organized by the Association of Greek Guitarists across regions like Thrace, Karditsa, Macedonia, Crete, Corfu, Volos, Amfikleia, and Piraeus. Notably, he performed Joaquín Rodrigo's "Concierto Andaluz" with the Athens State Orchestra under the baton of Leo Brouwer during the 2nd International Guitar Festival at the Athens Concert Hall. His repertoire spans Baroque to contemporary compositions, and he has been honored with international accolades for his contributions to music. Beyond his performance career, Sourvinos is dedicated to education, serving as a faculty member at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, where he imparts his extensive knowledge to aspiring musicians.
