Sterre Konijn
A polished, underground classical artist.
With her interest in music, language and theatre, singer Sterre Konijn has been developing an adventurous performance practise. She performs in music theatre-, cross over – and modern classical productions. She sings from French chanson to Bulgarian folk music and from jazz to classical avant-garde, she plays in musical theater productions and also plays the violin, duduk and theremin. She sings at the traditional music halls as the Concertgebouw, Carré and Paradiso, but also in the tunnel under the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and up in the air at 30 meters hight above Florence. On 'een' ('one'), her solo debut, she sings a cyclical program about connection versus loneliness. Being immersed in someone or something and what happens when you’re not able to find that. Een is located on a border between music and theater, with highly personal, often self-composed or arranged repertoire. Special instrumentations such as theremin & double bass or organ & voice are sought out and performed by young top musicians, each with a different musical background and a strong desire to join musically.
