Spain
An underground slowcore artist.
Spain is a Los Angeles-based musical group founded in 1993 by bassist/vocalist Josh Haden. Spain’s debut 1995 release, The Blue Moods Of Spain, helped define the slowcore sub-genre of alternative rock. Spain’s songs have been recorded on Grammy-winning albums by Johnny Cash and the duo of Charlie Haden & Pat Metheny (Josh is jazz bassist Charlie Haden’s son), and have been performed live by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Over the course of thirty years, Spain have released seven studio albums, a greatest hits album, two live albums, and several singles, including songs written for film. Their most recent release, World Of Blue, issues demos recorded prior to Blue Moods for the first time on vinyl.
