Jonathan Richter
A nostalgic, underground classical guitar artist.
I’m a classical guitarist and ethnomusicologist based in Atlanta, GA. I received an MA in Music from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where I specialized in the music of ethnic minority groups in Southwest China. You can hear some of my influences on my featured track Drunken Madness (酒狂), an ancient Guqin piece from around the year 250 A.D. which I transcribed for guitar. I also received a BA in Music and East Asian Studies from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC where I studied under my wonderful teacher, Kami Rowan. Today, I teach private lessons in Atlanta, where I continue to research music and culture from around the world. My latest album 20 Classical Guitar Etudes for Beginner and Intermediate Students features a collection of my favorite studies to teach students.
