Monolithic

Monolithic is the alias of Jun Torii, a Brooklyn-based producer and DJ originally from Japan. His sound moves between lo-fi house and breakbeat, defined by distorted TR-808/909 drums, warm pads, and emotive melodies. Emerging through Bandcamp, Monolithic drew early attention from platforms like Houseum, Slav, Moskalus, EELF, and Majestic Casual. His productions have earned support from artists including Disclosure, Cinthie, and Lxury, connecting with both club crowds and home listeners. Torii plays selectively, appearing at Brooklyn’s Mood Ring, Bossa Nova Civic Club, Good Room, Apollo Studios, and Public Records, with guest features on Newtown Radio and The Lot Radio that reflect his quiet consistency in the city’s underground house scene. Alongside Monolithic, Torii explores different musical directions under a growing network of aliases, including Lounge 2 Function and Gecko Story. Most of his work is self-released through his imprint, Platonic Solids Inc., with additional contributions to labels such as Clipp.art, Lwlvls, and Mechanical.
