Frans van Deursen
An underground dutch singer-songwriter artist.
Frans Van Deursen is a Dutch singer, lyricist and actor. He was born October 31, 1962 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He performed in numerous musical theatre productions, such as The Three Penny Opera, Aïda, Miss Saigon and The Official Tribute to Blues Brothers. He sang the work of Frank Zappa, Astor Piazzolla, The Louvin Brothers and Ramses Shaffy. He worked with musicians like Michiel Borstlap, Bertolf, Daniel Lohues, Paul de Munnik, Spinvis, Jeroen Zijlstra and Wouter Planteijdt. He co-writes with composer Martijn Spierenburg (Within Temptation), Wouter Planteijdt and many more. He has released three solo albums: ‘Scherven van een Leeggedronken Nacht’, on which he performs his Dutch translations of the work of Tom Waits, and ‘De Vogel in mijn Borst’, a collaboration with some of Hollands finest musicians and a celebration of Dutch poet Leo Vroman. His last album is Motel Coyote; 12 songs he wrote while on a 9 week road trip from Los Angeles to Miami. Produced by Gerhardt, with Alan McLachlan on banjo, dobro and mandolin, Peter Wassenaar on standing bass, Wouter Planteijdt on acoustic and electric guitar and noise, Gerhardt Heusinkveld on percussion, drums and backing vocals.
