Yttling Jazz

Tracks4

Every third full moon, Björn Yttling gathers Sweden's finest park bench philosophers and jazz cosmonauts for rapturous jam sessions that go on for days. This is Yttling Jazz. Björn Yttling is a world-renowned writer and producer best known as a member of Pter Bjorn and John, and for his collaborations with Lykke Li, having produced and co-written five albums together over the past two decades. Björn has also collaborated with a wide range of artists including First Aid Kit, Robyn, Franz Ferdinand, Primal Scream, David Lynch and many others. However, very few people know that he is also a trained jazz musician. He went to one of the finest jazz schools in Sweden, even taking the train to Stockholm every week to get private lessons from a legend of Scandinavian jazz, Esbjörn Svensson. The ensemble's latest album, "Illegal Hit", released to critical acclaim in 2025. Alongside the main set of noir-inflected jazz, Björn also enlisted a number of collaborators to reimagine the tracks. El Perro del Mar, Svaneborg Kardyb, Joshua Idehen, Matt Sweeney and The Tallest Man on Earth all contributed their own interpretations of the songs, blurring the lines between jazz, folk, and alternative music. January 2026 saw the release of "Distant Star" featuring Yukimi. An alt-jazz hit that bridges Björn's past and future, the track is a sample of what's to come for the ensemble in 2026, which will also see the group embarking on a European tour.
