Patricia Brennan
Patricia Brennan is a Mexican-born vibraphonist, marimbist, improviser, and composer, widely recognized as one of the most innovative voices on her instrument today. Hailed by DownBeat Magazine as “one of the most exciting and innovative vibraphonists at work today” and praised by The New York Times for music that “exists in a realm outside the body, but stays loaded with feeling,” Patricia has quickly established herself as a leading force in contemporary jazz and improvised music. A two-time DownBeat Rising Star winner and the 2025 DownBeat Critics Poll Vibraphonist of the Year, Patricia has also received critical acclaim for her albums Maquishti (2021), More Touch (2022), and Breaking Stretch (2024), the latter earning Album of the Year in the 2025 DownBeat Critics Poll. Her projects range from intimate solo work to expansive ensembles, and her collaborations include artists such as John Hollenbeck, Vijay Iyer, Mary Halvorson, Arturo O’Farrill, and Michael Formanek. Patricia has performed at premier venues and festivals worldwide, from Carnegie Hall and the Newport Jazz Festival to Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna. In addition to her artistic work, she is on faculty at Manhattan School of Music, The New School, and NYU.
