From their first album in 1997 until now, Pain of Salvation has a reputation for being unpredictable, outside the box, and willing to experiment with styles. Being led by Daniel Gildenlöw (the band's main songwriter, lyricist, guitarist, and vocalist) they are considered to be one of the leading bands in the progressive rock/metal genre. Their most recent album, PANTHER, was released in 2020. At present, they are in the process of creating a new album. On stage, the band is one of the most exciting live-acts.
